Films to look out for in 2017
The Trials
Directed by James Rogan
Rogan Productions is branching out into a new sector in 2017. Directed by James Rogan (The Open Doors & Dead Bolt Dead), The Trials is Rogan Productions’ first 90 minute drama in development with Channel 4, and will start filming in February. The Trials is a drama in the form of a documentary, which will explore radical experiment: a new kind of dementia care home has been set up on the Isle of Wight, where residents are treated to the highest standard of care in return for becoming human guinea pigs to be used in drug trials.
An online series with the Balvenie

Rogan Productions are teaming up with Michel Roux Jr. and the Balvenie distillery to deliver another online series about craftsmanship. Last year we released a series called The Craftsmen’s Dinner, which received over 6 million views on YouTube.
The Refugee Diaries

Commissioned by BBC Three, The Refugees Diaries is due to be released in January 2017. This series of short films follow Thaer, a 28 year old Syrian, who after his house was reduced to rubble in an airstrike, made the decision to leave his family and friends – hoping to find a safe and better life in the UK. The films utilise footage filmed by Thaer, a first-hand account of his experiences as he tries to forge a new life in the UK.
Waiting for Invasion
Directed by Neringa Medutyte
Due to be televised by Al Jazeera in March 2017, Waiting for Invasion follows the stories of Lithuanian conscripts preparing to defend themselves against the Russian military. Just 25 years after gaining independence from Russia, Lithuania is facing occupation again. This film tells the story of people desperately trying to preserve peace against unimaginable odds, following the paths that young Lithuanian men are having to take within a country that is preparing for defence.
