From picking up two awards at the Grierson’s, moving our offices to Hoxton Square to be housed with post-production house Molinare (Isle of Dogs, Annihilation, The Crown), to launching Rogan Digital – a new arm of the Rogan Productions’ business, 2018 was an exciting and pivotal year for our production team.
Here’s a round up of some of the projects we completed in 2018:
1. Stephen Lawrence – A Murder that Changed a Nation
Directed by James Rogan, this docu-series made waves when it was broadcast in April last year on BBC One. The series helped spark a national debate which led to the establishment of a long sought after ‘Stephen Lawrence Day’ and the arrest of one of the murder suspects.
Stephen won two Grierson Awards in 2018 for ‘Best Historical Documentary’ & ‘Best Documentary Series’.
2. Craftsmen’s Dinner 3
The third series of The Craftsmen’s Dinner commissioned by the world-revered whisky brand The Balvenie and released across YouTube in July 2018. In this series, Michel Roux Jr. brings together craftspeople from The Balvenie for a very special dinner.
All episodes of this series are available to watch on the Rogan Productions YouTube channel.
3. Can Violent Men Change?
Directed by Katie Hindley ( who was named a 2018 Broadcast Magazine ‘Hot Shot’), Can Violent Men Change? was broadcast on BBC Panorama in October 2018. This 30 minute documentary explored the effectiveness of courses and therapies designed to help perpetrators of domestic violence change their violent behaviour.
4. Start-Up Libya
Following on from our series Young, Clever & Libyan, Start-Up Libya was broadcast on BBC World News in May 2018. This series followed the story of three bright young entrepreneurs as they bring their teams to Benghazi to compete in Libya’s first nationwide entrepreneurial contest: Enjazi.
We’ve got another busy year ahead in 2019. Keep up-to-date with all our new releases by joining the Rogan Productions mailing list.
