Rogan Productions took home two awards on Monday at this year’s Grierson Awards, including Best Documentary Series and Best Historical Documentary for our recent production ‘Stephen: The Murder that Changed a Nation’ in collaboration with On The Corner Films, directed by James Rogan.
This three-part docuseries. which aired on BBC One in April earlier this year, examines the murder of Stephen Lawrence in Britain in the early 90s. The series made waves when it was broadcast, helping to spark a national debate which led to the establishment of a long sought after ‘Stephen Lawrence Day’ and the arrest of one of the murder suspects.
Grierson Awards Jury chair Tom McDonald commented on the series: “The winner of this year’s Grierson is a remarkable series – beautifully crafted, with extraordinary use of interview, archive and a unique visual approach. It is not simply a re-telling of a story and its repercussions, but is a series about Britain, who we were as a nation and what we’ve become.”
