BBC studios and Rogan Productions renews first look deals following sales to over 200 territories over past five years

Today at its 50th annual Showcase event in London, BBC Studios announced that it is renewing its deal with the multi-award-winning Rogan Productions, which gives the global studio a first look deal at distributing the indie’s factual programming slate in return for development funding for another three years.
BBC Studios and Rogan Productions first partnered together back in 2020, with the focus of the deal being and continuing to be on premium documentaries and landmark series, capitalising on Rogan’s international reputation for delivering high quality films that are both challenging and accessible.

Over the past five years, BBC Studios have sold Rogan’s titles to over 220 territories worldwide, including sales for Freddie: The Final Act, ABBA: Against the Odds and Putin: A Russian Spy Story. BBC Studios also recently announced international deals for the upcoming 3 part documentary for Channel 4, Free Nelson Mandela, its latest project with Rogan and Motion Entertainment, a WPP Media company, with co-production agreements with the Danish Broadcasting Corporation DR, Norwegian Public Broadcaster NRK and Dutch broadcaster ZWART, and pre-sales to Finland (Yle), France and Germany (ARTE) and Spain (Movistar Plus+).

Established in 2013, Rogan Productions’ credits include critically acclaimed series Freddie Mercury: The Final Act and Becoming Frida Kahlo. Rogan recently won the Best Documentary Programme award for their Netflix series Grenfell: Uncovered at the Broadcast 2026 Awards as well as being nominated for Best Production Company.
