On Monday 23rd November, our latest series co-produced with the BBC Young, Clever & Libyan had its first UK screening at the Frontline Club in Paddington. Parts 1 & 3 of the series were screened to audience members with a Q&A after chaired by James Rogan, featuring Mary Wilkinson from the BBC, Khaled el Mufti from Tatweer Research & the Director of the film, Oliver Cheetham.

This 3-part series followed 23 graduates from Benghazi as they embarked on a year long management science course at Cambridge University in the UK. Tatweer Research initiated the nationwide search for these students – a company aiming to foster a new Knowledge Economy beyond the Libyan oil and gas industry, by nurturing the brightest young minds in Libya.

The idea of the programme was to support these students in bringing back skills to help build Libya’s scientific research base, but as filming continues the country descends further into civil war. Young, Clever & Libyan gives an entirely new perspective on Benghazi life and the passion these graduates have for their country.

The series was first broadcast on BBC World in July 2015 and has since been rebroadcast in November/December on BBC World North America. If you missed our screening at the Frontline Club last month, watch the last episode of the series on BBC World North America on Saturday 12th December at 01.10 & 15.10 and Sunday 13th December 2015 at 09.01 & 20.10 (GMT). Please note this broadcast will only be available to those based in North America.
