Rogan Productions’ Company Director James Rogan joins a team of industry experts for the First Annual SSL ‘Doc Day’, to be held on Wednesday 14th September 2016, in Stowe, Vermont.
Doc Day will be an all-day exploration of how to build a documentary, from idea to exhibition, and will be run by Jose Rodriguez, Director of Documentary Programming at Tribeca Film Institute (TFI), a non-profit arts organization that champions storytellers to be catalysts for change in their communities and around the world.
In the morning participants will hear insights on how to create a documentary film; discover and secure grants; and showcase ideas to potential investors, including TFI. The afternoon will be dedicated to group round table discussions with industry mentors, creating an opportunity to gain individual insights and development tips aimed at participants’ own work. DocDay will conclude with the screening of a documentary film with a Q&A with the filmmaker led by Rodriguez. The day-long event will take place on the heels of the Stowe Story Labs Narrative Workshop, September 10 – 13. Fall Stowe Story Lab participants are invited to attend the morning Doc Day program for no additional charge.
“We have wanted to provide programming for documentarians since Stowe Story Labs began in 2013,” said Stowe Story Labs Founder and President David Rocchio. “Partnering with the Tribeca Film Institute provides us with a meaningful way into the world of building documentaries. We are excited to launch this program and expect terrific works to flow from it,” he said.
Rodriguez also commented “At TFI, we’re passionate about working with the next generation of filmmakers – whatever their age – and providing them with the professional guidance and support they need to help advance their careers […] I feel honored to be participating in Stowe Story Lab’s First Annual SSL ‘Doc Day’ and look forward to meeting and engaging with this year’s participants.”
