One Night in 2012 – Repeat Broadcast on BBC Two, Friday 17 July 2020
When One Night in 2012 was first broadcast on BBC One in July 2016, it was named ‘Documentary of the Week‘ by the Radio Times and ‘Pick of the Weekend‘ by the Financial Times, and was also nominated for a RTS award in the ‘Best Arts Documentary’ category. Back on TV due to popular demand, BBC Two will be showing a repeat broadcast this week, so you can relive the magic of the Olympic Opening Ceremony all over again.
In this Olympic Imagine Special, Alan Yentob tells the story of London’s Olympic Opening Ceremony, as seen through the eyes of its artistic director Danny Boyle, his creative team and just some of the thousands of volunteers who worked to make it happen, to explain the thinking, ambition and challenges that went into creating “The Greatest Show on Earth”. The documentary relates how they united in the face of a cynical nation and produced a warm-up act like no other.
